The Ecumenical Christian Foundation
for Integrated Development & Training-Education (FEDICE)
has worked for many years with community families
in agricultural and livestock efforts to provide food and income for families.

FEDICE works with indigenous communities
that practice traditional values such as
solidarity, reciprocity and mingas (shared collective work).

Sheep-raising is a viable income generation activity
for families working in the remote high altitude communities
where FEDICE works.

FEDICE provides the group of women caring for sheep in each community
technical training assistance in veterinary & animal handling matters,
as well as the use & commercialization of the products from livestock.

The emergence and strength of women’s organizations
has been a key factor of the success in FEDICE’s efforts
to empower local communities.
